My latest project was an infrared and video menu controller. With this project I was able to control my lighting and security cameras with a Sony compatible remote control. I started off with a 16f876 pic and then upgraded to the 16f877 and increased the clock to 8 meg. I spent a good twelve months on this project and even though I am replacing it with HomeVision soon it was well worth doing as I learned a bit about video and infrared. I was going to design a board for this, then I found out that the video chip was to become obsolete, so I did’nt bother.
