Some pics of my xpl-vfd unit. This was one which I got from Ian Lowe and im going to use it to display xpl messages from Ians vfd app and also Steve Coopers xpl-hvision.. The unit is connected to a mss100 serial / ethernet unit that I got from Kevin Hawkins. Have been meaning to house the vfd for a while as I was worried it might get damaged , and after seeing Steves nice mdf enclosure decided it was time to do something...Since I dont have access to a lot of carpentry tools I decided to use some plastic piping. The piping is approx 90mm diameter . I cut a slot in it for the vfd using a jigsaw. The bottom section is also part of the 90mm plastic pipe..It doesnt look too bad . Need to somehow blank the ends off. So will have to check out the plumbing suppliers for suitable end caps. |
