Some pics of my xpl pic TVOSD
You can see the from the top two pictures that the pic micro is mounted on veroboard and the STV5730A is located on the pcb as well as the max232 serial chip.
There are three leds currently on my unit. The green led(right hand side) is the pic heartbeat led and this indicates (hopefully) all is well and flashes on / off continuously . The yellow (centre) is a valid data led. This led lights briefly whenever a targeted OSD message for the TVOSD is received or a broadcast OSD message is received. The Blue led (left hand side) flashes ON /OFF whenever the TVOSD receives an ALERT message. This led is quite bright and will certainly draw your attention.
The picture bottom right shows the rear of the TVOSD Unit. The cat5 lead is the serial connection, adjacent to that is a RCA socket and this is the video out. On the right hand side is the power socket and adjacent to that is the video in RCA socket.
Have yet to add a toggle switch which will select which mode the TVOSD will work.
Either solid text mode or Text over video mode......

I have a spare MSS100 that I got from Kevin H. And im thinking of putting it on my network....Also might add a beeper so during the day can use it to draw attention and only use the blue led late at night.......
