Now that I have added another HV I/O Expander to my Homevision system I decided it was time to do a bit of tidying up. Im starting to accumulate lots of little boxes in my system so decided to mount my HV I/O Expanders and also my Homevision Phone serial and HV Serial board in a plastic 1U case..
As can be seen on the LHS picture at the front of the box I have mounted the HV I/O Expanders and at the rear is the HV Serial board (exstreme left) and the HV Phone serial in the centre (approx) ....
Íts probably hard to tell from the photo but the HV Phone serial board almost touches the HV I/O Expander...I used my test HV Serial board as a guide and wrongly assumed the HV Phone Serial was the same dimension . So it would have been better to swap positions of the HV Serial board with the HV Phone Serial. As there was a small gap which is handy to route cables. There is also provision for another HV Serial board in between these boards..
The pic on the RHS shows a close up of the HV I/O Expanders ...The first two dont have any terminals and these are used for FirM (device 1) and the Probe system (device 2). The ribbon cable leaving on both boards has a db9 crimped on the end and these plug into the I/o connection on FirM + Probe....
Device 3 which has the coloured multicore cable connected to the input side is used to get the status of my room pirs into Homevision..The end of this cable terminates into a db9 male and the cable that mates to this goes off to some relays which are controlled by Genesis... Device 4 is also an input device for my current project...more on this later...
Device 5 is spare...There is also provision to add another 3 devices ...so plenty of room for expansion.....Just wish I could tidy my wiring as easy as this....It just seems to grow and tangle. Could have sworn I tidied it up a while back...
